A random fact all women (who wear bras) need to know

If you go up a band size you go down a cup size. Therefore if you are a 34B, the equivalent would be a 36A OR a 32C. If the band feels snug and you decide to go up that doesn't mean you stay the same cup size. A LOT of women make this mistake.

Also the proper fitting for a bra is the following:

  • your band should be straight in the back... as in it should not be creeping up your shoulders, it should be a flat line.
  • your cup should not cut into or cut off your breast tissue on the side. It should clear all breast tissue. Sometimes you need to bend over and lift your boobs to help the bra out but nonetheless your entire breast should fit into a cup.
  • your bra should fit snugly on the last set of hooks however it should not be so tight that it makes your skin roll. Bras stretch over time, therefore if it fits on the last hook at the beginning you can move it over hooks over time. (this is also why it is important to buy the correct band size from the beginning)
Also, most women are wearing the wrong size bra. Save yourself the time, money, and discomfort... Go get sized at Nordstrom.

Here are more bra tips from Susan Nethero (as stolen from Oprah.com, yes I am quoting something from Oprah's website)

  • If your cups runneth over, it's time to go up a cup size.
  • If your cups dimple, it's time to go down a cup size.
  • If you have the dreaded back fat, you probably think your bra is too tight, but you're wrong—your bra is too big. Wearing the bra lower on your back with a smaller band size will completely eliminate the back fat.
  • If your strap falls down, that means your bra band is riding up and you probably need to go down a band size.
