You either believe that women are people or you don't.  Joss Whedon explains why Feminist may sound like a dirty word but at the end of the day the question to ask yourself is "do you believe that women are people." If the answer is yes, and if you believe that all people should/are equal, then yes you should be a feminist/genderist/etc.

The definition of feminism (as stated by Merriam Webster Dictionary, who I'd argue is pretty credible): :  the theory of the political, economic, and social equality of the sexes. It's not: man hater, lesbian, bitter shrew. It's identify men and women as equals.
